Mawlana Abdol-Hameed urged on the purification of individuals and societies combating misdeeds in his latest Friday sermon presented in Zahedan on 24th Jan. 2014.
Khateeb of Ahl-us-Sunnah in Zahedan, southeastern Iran, started his sermon by reciting the Noble verse of the Qur’an: «وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتُ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَاء بَعْضٍ يَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنكَرِ وَيُقِيمُونَ الصَّلاَةَ وَيُؤْتُونَ الزَّكَاةَ وَيُطِيعُونَ اللّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ أُوْلَئِكَ سَيَرْحَمُهُمُ اللّهُ إِنَّ اللّهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ» [توبه: 71], (The believers, male and female, are friends to each other. They bid virtue and forbid vice and establish Salah and pay Zakah and obey Allah and His Messenger. Those are the ones whom Allah will bless with mercy. Surely, Allah is Powerful, Wise.)
He pointed, “The distinguishing religion of Islam has called every individual in the Muslim society to purify himself in the first stage; to struggle for reforming others is the next duty of all Muslims.”
Shaikh Abdol-Hamid added more, “Islam is universal religion for the entire humanity; it is not limited to any particular region, nation or ethnic group. The last messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, is the true prophet of Him until the Accountability Day and all prophets are included in his Ummah (nation).”
The eminent Sunni leader underlined there was need of widespread and pervasive movement to purify the human society. “Regretfully, only a small group of Muslims has been striving and meditating on the reformation of human kind. Muslims make long trips to China, Japan, the US and other parts of the world for their businesses and worldly affairs, but there have not been such struggles and sacrifices regarding the religion (Islam) and the Hereafter life of people,” he underlined.
Shaikh-ul-Islam mentioned the negligence of Muslims one of the main reasons behind the prevalence of misdeeds and crimes in societies. “The brae of sins and various kinds of crimes expands day by day. As Muslims we should strive to save ourselves, our relatives and all human beings. When we witness someone committing sins or behaves unjustly, we must react as much as we can; there must be efforts to purify and end that sin. Besides, we can make Du’a for the elimination of misdeeds and sins from the society”, he emphasized.
Khateeb of Sunnis indicated to some misdeeds, saying adultery, robbery, cruelty and murdering innocent people have been common in today’s society. If anyone commits sins, not only he harms himself but he infects the entire society also. As reciting the Qur’an and worshipping the only Lord bring the blessings of Allah, in the same way misdeeds and sins cause the anger of Allah and contamination of the society.
He termed the reformation of society a ‘publicresponsibility’, stating, “It is not only duty of Ulama and preachers to work hard for the purification of the society, rather all individuals including elders in families and caretakers have some responsibilities according to their influence. Carelessness in the duty of purification and guidance is the sign of death for any society. It is a vital duty that needs to be noticed seriously.”
Pointing out to the advices of Luqman to his son, Shaikh said Luqman advised his son to avoid associating anyone with Allah, establish prayers, bid the fair and forbid the unfair, and observe patience on what befalls him. It is clear that he enjoined his dear son to bid the fair and forbid the unfair after the tenet of Tawhid and establishment of prayers.
Reasoning the Qur’anic verse (09:71), he said the great duty of biding the fair and forbidding the unfair was the secret of prosperity in the both worlds for humankinds.
In a part of his speech, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid talked about the lessonful end of Ariel Sharon, the 11th PM of the Zionist regime. He said Sharon was one of the disrespectable criminals of the human history who died very badly after being in death throes for a long time. His end is a lesson for all tyrants and aggressive leaders.
