Mawlana Ahmad Narui, interim Khateeb of the Grand Makki Masjid of Zahedan, talked about the importance of purification and reformation of the self and ego putting “sincerity” the cornerstone of purification.
“It has been underlined in the Noble Qur’an and Sunnah to purify the self and ego. There are two big enemies of mankind’s spiritual advancement; the self, an internal enemy, and Satan. Purification is one of the beloved prophet Muhammad’s aims and missions as the Noble Qur’an clarifies,” he added more.
Shaikh Narui further said that Islam had emphasized to carry out worships such as five-time prayers, fasting, Hajj and Zakah, but they can not be accepted without a sincere intention. Allah says: «وَمَا أُمِرُوا إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ حُنَفَاء وَيُقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَيُؤْتُوا الزَّكَاةَ وَذَلِكَ دِينُ الْقَيِّمَةِ» [بینه: 5], (while they were not ordered but to worship Allah, making their submission exclusive for him with no deviation, and to establish Salah and pay Zakah. That is the way of the straight religion.)
The teacher at Darululoom Zahedan pointed more saying that if somebody offers prayers or carries out any other worship to get admiration of people, the act would be counted sin instead. Such deeds lead people to the Hell not paradise. All worships should be for the sake of Allah; as He states in the Qur’an: «قُلْ إِنَّ صَلاَتِي وَنُسُكِي وَمَحْيَايَ وَمَمَاتِي لِلّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ» [انعام: 162], (Say,: My prayer, my offering, my life and my death are for Allah, the Lord of all the worlds.)
He counted ‘tolerance’ and ‘remission’ as other leading factors in the field of man’s purification and reformation. By these features a model and ideal society will be formed. For a prosperous life, all of the above-mentioned characters are needed. Enduring difficulties made the companions of beloved prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, perfect who embraced all sorts of tiresome crises in their lives.
At the end of his sermon, Shaikh Ahmad Narui alluded to return of pilgrims of Makkah and Medina and said, “We welcome Hujjaj warmly; assiduity makes mankind thriving. As pilgrims were offering prayers in congregation and remembering Allah, they should continue it in their hometown as well. Hajj was a practice for them to worship Allah constantly.
