The local officials confirmed death of two Basij personnel in the attack in the costal city of Chabahar, south of Sistan-Baluchistan, Iran. The failed suicide onslaught wounded four passersby including a police officer.
The security assistant of the provincial governor, Rajab-Ali Shaikhzadeh, said that Morteza Asoudeh, a Sunni student and member of the militia and Hamed Bazzi, a Shiite member of the Basij forces lost their lives while tailing the suspected suicide bomber.
“Harkat-e-Ansar”, a newly-organized militant group has claimed to be behind the attack to avenge “mass execution” of Baluch citizens of Iran in different jails of the country. The group issued a statement on its web portal putting the attack a “car-bomb” that had targeted the Revolutionary Guards personnel’s meeting.
Different communities and religious figures of Sistan-Baluchistan have condemned Chabahar attack including the Sunni Scholars’ Community of Zahedan, the provincial capital of Sistan-Baluchistan. They urged on the vigilance and unity of all sects of Muslims.
