Molawi Abdol-Malek Malekipour talked about ‘Human rights’ in the 21st annual graduation ceremony of Darululoom Zahedan, the largest Islamic seminary of the Sunni community in Iran.
He started his sermon by recitation of the holy verse: «وَلَقَدْ كَرَّمْنَا بَنِي آدَمَ وَحَمَلْنَاهُمْ فِي الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ وَرَزَقْنَاهُم مِّنَ الطَّيِّبَاتِ وَفَضَّلْنَاهُمْ عَلَى كَثِيرٍ مِّمَّنْ خَلَقْنَا تَفْضِيلًا», (And We bestowed dignity on the children of ‘Adam and provided them with rides on the land and in the sea, and provided them with a variety of good things and made them much superior to many of those whom We have created.) and a noble Hadith of Holy Prophet Muhammad, peace & blessings be upon him, in this regard.
Molawi Malekipour stated, ‘Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala emphasized on the rights of parents after Tawhid, oneness of Allah, and the order of avoidance from Shirk, associating with Him in the Qur’an. Allah forbids us to say anything that may show disrespect of parents.’
The eminent scholar further said that Allah Almighty put mankind the best and most honorable creature. Allah has equipped human being with rides on the land and in the sea.
Shaikh Malekipour went on to say, ‘Allah Exalted has urged on the rights of folks in many places; it has come in Sourah Al-Nisa: «وَاعْبُدُواْ اللّهَ وَلاَ تُشْرِكُواْ بِهِ شَيْئًا وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ إِحْسَانًا وَبِذِي الْقُرْبَى وَالْيَتَامَى وَالْمَسَاكِينِ وَالْجَارِ ذِي الْقُرْبَى وَالْجَارِ الْجُنُبِ وَالصَّاحِبِ بِالجَنبِ وَابْنِ السَّبِيلِ وَمَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُكُمْ إِنَّ اللّهَ لاَ يُحِبُّ مَن كَانَ مُخْتَالًا فَخُورًا», (Worship Allah, and do not associate with Him anything, and be good to parents and to kinsmen and orphans and the needy and the close neighbor and the distant neighbor and the companion at your side and the wayfarer and to those (slaves who are) owned by you. Surely, Allah does not like those who are arrogant, proud.) Besides, Holy Prophet underlined on the rights of human being and even animals and plants as well. The last prophet says: «الراحمون یرحمهم الرحمن», merciful and sympathetic people receive Allah’s mercy. Holy Qur’an introduced Holy beloved prophet Muhammad, Alaihis-Salam, very merciful and kind: «لقد جائکم رسول من أنفسکم عزیز علیه ما عنتم حریص علیکم بالمؤمنین رئوف رحیم. », (Surely, there has come to you, from your midst, a Messenger who feels it very hard on him if you face a hardship, who is very anxious for your welfare, and for the believers he is very kind, very merciful.)
‘Islam is the protector of human rights. There are many parties and states across the globe claiming to be the “protector of human rights”, but the measurement scale of human rights is different. Most of the verbal claimants support ‘human rights’ just to encourage vice and misdeeds more. They are not guardians of human rights; such states only want to promote their interests. As in some places they support people’s uprising, they call them demanders of human rights; while they deny to admit people’s uprising in some other countries. It is a double standard policy,’ he pointed.
Shaikh Malekipour reasoned some stories to show the importance of human rights in Islam in the era of Holy Prophet and the Guided Caliphs, saying that upstart claimants of protection of human rights chant slogans now; while Islam had ensured the rights of all, mankind and animals before centuries.
