‘Gaddafi’s PM arrested in Tunisia’

Tunisian officials have reportedly arrested former Libyan Prime Minister Al-Baghdadi Al-Mahmoudi after he crossed the border into the country.
The Dubai-based al-Arabiya network reported on Thursday that Mahmoudi was detained for illegally entering Tunisia. The Arabic news channel, however, did not elaborate on the time and place of his arrest.
There was no immediate official confirmation of Mahmoudi’s arrest from either Tunisian officials or Libya’s National Transitional Council (NTC) figures.
Mahmoudi served as prime minister under Libya’s fugitive former ruler Muammar Gaddafi from March 2011 until revolutionary forces advanced into the heart of Tripoli on August 21, seizing control of much of the capital without facing significant resistance from regime forces.
On Thursday, Libyan revolutionaries said they have occupied all districts of the desert city of Sabha, situated 750 kilometers (466 miles) south of Tripoli.
“Our revolutionaries are controlling 100 percent of Sabha city. However, there are some pockets of resistance by snipers. This resistance is hopeless,” NTC military spokesman Ahmed Bani told reporters in Tripoli.
He added, “We are doing our best looking for the tyrant (Gaddafi). There is some news here and there that he ran away from Sabha to another place but it cannot be confirmed.”
Libya has been the scene of intense fighting between regime troops and fighters since a revolution seeking to topple Gaddafi began in mid-February.
