US airstrike kills 12 Afghan children

KABUL- A US airstrike has killed at least 12 school children and wounded several others in an area of the troubled eastern Afghanistan, locals say.

The US Media Information Center in Jalalabad has confirmed the strike, claiming that all the killed were the Taliban militants.

However, eyewitnesses say the victims of the air raid were innocent children.

Locals say children were targeted on a hilltop while gathering wood fuel in the volatile region. The locals have shifted the dead bodies to their families.

Last week, over 60 Afghan civilians lost their lives during NATO air strikes on residential areas in the same province.

Afghan officials say civilians were killed in the volatile region on February 17.

An Afghan study on the unexploded munitions has recently revealed that the US-led NATO forces have been using internationally prohibited bombs against civilians in the war-torn country.

Thousands of Afghan people have so far lost their lives due to military operations by foreign troops since the 2001 US-led invasion.

Afghan officials including President Hamid Karzai have repeatedly called for an end to attacks on civilians, who are the main victims of the US-led military operations in Afghanistan.

Insecurity is on the rise across the country despite the presence of over 150,000 US-led forces there.

American transport aircraft brought down in Helmand

A Taliban spokesman claimed that their fighters targeted and brought down a 4 engine American transport aircraft with RPG rounds as it was traveling at low altitude over Shin Ghazak area of Marjah district at 07:00 pm yesterday. All invaders on board the airplane were killed and wounded.

Locals from the area say that the wreckage of the aircraft is still lying at the scene and the invaders have cordoned off the area from the public.

More US-led troops killed in Afghan war

“At least 3 NATO invaders were killed and another 2 were wounded during a clash with Mujahideen in Ali Shang district of Laghman province on Tuesday,” Taliban claim.

In another incident in the province’s Khogianu district, Mujahideen mounted a surprise attack on NATO invaders’ patrol shooting one of the enemy tanks killing or wounding a dozen of the NATO invading troops last night.

Invaders kill 15 Afghan soldiers in bombing

Reports arriving from Gerishk district say that early this morning at around 05:00 am, US invaders came under an armed attack in Hayderabad area while trying to conduct an operation.

A jet bomber was order by the invaders to the fighting scene which bombed 2 check posts of road security personnel located on the main road. It is said that the check posts were completely destroyed and 15 Afghan soldiers inside killed.

It should be mentioned that this is not the first time that the invaders have carried out such strikes but on many occasions they have either bombed civilians or their own allies in many parts of the country.
