Bomb kills US-led soldier in Afghanistan

Another US-led soldier has lost his life in a roadside bombing in southern Afghanistan, taking the foreign forces’ death toll to 709 in this year. The soldier reportedly belonging to the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan — known as ISAF — was killed in a bomb blast on Tuesday, according to an ISAF statement.

The statement did not give more details on the the trooper’s identity or nationality, nor did it specify the exact whereabouts of the deadly explosion.
The number of mortalities this year has turned it to the deadliest for the foreign troops in war-torn Afghanistan since the US-led invasion of the country in 2001.
The figure was 504 in 2009, according to the Associated Press.
Meanwhile, NATO officials are warning of tougher times in Afghanistan, where the Western military alliance currently has around 150,000 troops.
