NATO drone goes down in Afghanistan

An unmanned US drone has crashed in central Afghanistan following a number of similar coalition aircraft accidents in the war-ravaged country. The reason for the incident which happened in Tangi village in Maidan Wardak province on Wednesday night is not yet known, a Press TV correspondent reported.

According to the Provincial Governor’s Spokesperson, Shahidullah Shahid, technical problem seemed to cause the plane crash.
The spokesperson further added that investigation was going on by the NATO and Afghan officials.
Taliban militants had earlier claimed to have shot down several NATO helicopters and drone aircraft in different parts of war-wracked Afghanistan this year.
In September, nine US soldiers were killed after a helicopter carrying NATO troops went down in the country’s south. The incident was the deadliest of its kind for US-led forces in the past four years.
