‘Human Societies Backward in Considering the Rights’

On last Friday Shaikh Abdul Hameed delivered a sermon over the rights of parents and said, “It is God’s obligatory to take care of the parent’s rights and be soft & helpful with them”.
Imam and khateeb of Makki mosque recited the verse:

“وَقَضَى رَبُّكَ أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوا إِلَّا إِيَّاهُ وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ إِحْسَانًا إِمَّا يَبْلُغَنَّ عِنْدَكَ الْكِبَرَ أَحَدُهُمَا أَوْ كِلَاهُمَا فَلَا تَقُلْ لَهُمَا أُفٍّ وَلَا تَنْهَرْهُمَا وَقُلْ لَهُمَا قَوْلًا كَرِيمًا وَاخْفِضْ لَهُمَا جَنَاحَ الذُّلِّ مِنَ الرَّحْمَةِ وَقُلْ رَبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا”،
(And your Lord has “Qada” decreed that you worship none but Him. And that you be dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor reprimand them but address them in terms of honor. And lower unto them the wing of submission and humility through mercy, and say: My Lord! Bestow on them your mercy as they did bring me up when I was young.) and more said, “Allah almighty has commanded us to take care of two major kinds of rights, (1): Allah’s rights; the greatest right of Allah almighty is to believe in the oneness of God almighty (Theism), He does not have any partner and He is alone; thus if a person devotes his each and every thing and sacrifices himself including his total wealth but he does not have such a great faith, unfortunately he would not fined the reward of his good deeds at the dooms day; because such rewards are conditioned by the valuable faith.  Just after believing in God, Allah almighty has described the parent’s rights in many places of His holy book, it refers to the importance of their rights.”
Respected Shaikh added more, “Today we live in a ‘global village’, where it takes seconds for news to reach from one end of the world to the other end. Yet how sad that people do not care and do not ask about their parents or relatives, it is a bad fortune that the society we live in has developed a lot, but we are much backward regarding the rights of different categories, if we compare our era with the previous people so we would fined there a huge difference, as the people in past were respecting their elders sincerely, especially their parent, but today we are witnessing that this kind of thinking is going down , in fact the modern education and science were not developed as it is updated today, but due to knowing the Islamic instructions and implementing it on themselves they were better than us.”

Status of Parent’s rights in Islam

Pointing out towards the rights of mankind the prominent Islamic scholar said that in the modern society none takes care of human being rights, rather than the rights of parents, so it is very necessary to remind each other the significance of their rights, undoubtedly the parents are the shadow of the God’s blessings, as it is narrated in a hadeeth: “One of the companions asked, which deed is the most beloved to Allah almighty? The apostle of God replied: “offering prayer on its time”, he repeated asking then which deed? The holy prophet (PBUH) replied doing good with parents. He repeated asking then which? The apostle of God replied: Doing Jihad in the way of Allah almighty.”
Sheik mentioned the event of Owais Qarni (RA) that he was very keen to see the holy Prophet (PBUH) but he was much busy to serve his mother, as she had needed it much, thus the holy prophet (PBUH) also allowed him to serve his mother, so he could not see and meet the holy face of the holy prophet (PBUH), but the apostle of Allah almighty ordered Omar Farooq (RA) to meet him, and ask him to pray for my Ummah, when Omar Farooq (RA) came to Yemen, he asked people, Is there Owais bin Aamir among you? And Omar Farooq (RA) reported to them the hadeeth of holy prophet (PBUH) “Certainly a man from Yemen will come to you, he is known with Owais.”
Shaikh continued saying that this is Owais Qarni we know him as a friend of Allah, but we do not know think how he got such a great status of being a friend of God? Certainly he had become Waleeyullah (the friend of God) by serving his mother not offering lots of prayers.
At the end of his speech condemning the assassination of two nuclear scientists on last Monday in Tehran, the eminent Shaikh said, “It is a great misfortune of our nation that such valuable persons lost their lives; they are not gifted to any nation easily, having such personalities are the God’s blessings but our enemies never want to let us progress, we condemn this event of target killing and we hope the arrest of the involved elements and their legal punishment.”
