Kosovo welcomes court ruling

Kosovo’s ethnic Albanian leadership has welcomed a decision from the International Court of Justice ruling that the territory’s declaration of independence from Serbia in 2008 is legal.

Serbia has denounced the move, saying it will embolden other separatist movements around the world.
Only 69 of the 192 countries at the UN General Assembly have recognised the semi-autonomous territory.
