Jammu & Kashmir: Bloodbath continues

OCCUPIED KASHMIR: Another youth was killed in this north Kashmir town on Sunday when [Indian] paramilitary CRPF troopers opened fire on protesters. The killing comes barely 3-days after two youth were shot dead by the CRPF men in the town.

Witnesses told Greater Kashmir that as soon as the restrictions were lifted this evening hundreds of people took to the streets demanding stern punishment for the erring CRPF troopers involved in the killing of Shakeel Ahmed and Firdous Ahmed, who were gunned down by the CRPF men on Friday last.
“As the protesters tried marching ahead the CRPF men resorted to indiscriminate firing injuring Bilal Ahmed Wani son of Muhammad Maqbool Wani of Kralteng critically,” witnesses added.
They said Wani was rushed to Srinagar for specialized treatment. “Doctors at SMHS hospital declared him brought dead,” locals said.
“The deceased was not the part of the procession. He was on way to a Masjid to offer prayers.” they added.
Talking to Greater Kashmir, the Block Medical Officer Sopur Dr Fouzia said that Wani had received bullet injury in the neck. “He had lateral wound,” she added.
As soon as the word about Wani’s death spread in the Sopur town thousands of people raising pro-freedom and anti-India slogans took to the streets and staged massive protests. “Entire Sopur town is on roads. How long will they kill innocents?” protesters asked.
The deceased was working as a daily wager in the PHE department and he was lone brother of four sisters.
Thousands of people, including children and women, were staging protests at main chowk Sopur when this report was filed.
Meanwhile, another youth, Jehangir Ahmed Shah son of Ghulam Nabi Shah sustained critical injuries when a teargas canister hit him on his leg. He was referred to Bone and Joint’s hospital Srinagar, where his condition was stated to be critical.
